Oct 31st | Halloween

The October month ends as always with Halloween. And although its history is linked to several ancient festivals, Halloween or All Hallows Eve, is most likely derived from the Celtic festival Samuin. Roughly translated from Old Irish this means “summer’s end” and the Gaels and Celts celebrated it as such.

Over time however this annual festival has come to be associated with and celebrate the dark side of the supernatural.

Each year sees people mocking up costumes to dress as witches, wizards, ghouls and ghosts while they go from door to door asking for sweets, attending bonfires and scaring themselves with horror films. Just be sure to keep your wits about you!
