Sir Tom Baker trained on Savile Row under Sir Hardy Amies, couturier to the Queen. This classical background means that the proportion, fit, construction and quality of his suits are always of the highest standard. This solid foundation means that the more outré Tom Baker looks – glitter and sequined jackets, top stitching on lapels, sleeves illustrated with Joy Division album covers – are always the epitome of elegance and sophistication. It’s rock n’ roll tailoring but grounded in the fine traditions of Savile Row.
In spite of his cutting edge reputation about half his business is geared up for conservative bankers and lawyers, while the other half is for show business and rock n’ roll types. His clientele reads like a who’s who of British style icons: Mick Jagger, Rhys Ifans, Duran Duran and Robert Plant.
Baker’s bespoke business has been based in Soho since 1996 and all of his bespoke pieces are still cut and made entirely by hand in his Brewer Street studio.
